Former Happy Mondays singer Rowetta is fuming at Cheryl Cole after the Girls Aloud star asked to use her vocals for an upcoming award show – but snubbed her offer to sing live.

Cole wanted to sample Rowetta’s dancefloor hit Be for a live performance of her single Fight For This Love at the upcoming Brit Awards.

But Rowetta – full name Rowetta Satchell – was furious after record executives informed her that another woman would lip sync her part alongside Cole at the event.

Rowetta rants, “Her record company asked to use my sample but wanted an ‘anonymous face’. I said I’m happy to perform but they don’t want that. Imagine if I wanted to sample Cheryl and got someone to mime her voice. That would never be allowed.”

It was revealed last year Rowetta’s vocals helped the Black Eyed Peas score a global smash with Boom Boom Pow, which samples her track Reach Out.

Cheryl Cole tried to keep a hotel stay secret by using the pseudonym MISS ENGLAND.

The singer, 26, was desperate for some peace and quiet during a busy week promoting her first solo album.

So her record company came up with the unlikely assumed name when she checked into a five-star London hotel. A member of staff at the £300-a-night Baglioni told The People: “We get a lot of famous people here and they can go to great lengths to remain incognito and avoid the paparazzi.

“We knew Cheryl was staying and we had to keep it low key – but using the name Miss England wasn’t very original, was it?”

The X Factor judge left England star husband Ashley Cole, 29, all alone at home in Oxshott, Surrey, this week while she spent three days at the hotel opposite Hyde Park, which has views across Kensington Gardens. Record company sources said she was using it as a base for a string of interviews to promote hit album 3 Words across Europe.

But Girls Aloud star Cheryl couldn’t keep totally anonymous. As The People found, above, she was soon spotted by fans when she nipped out for a coffee.

She’s been keeping a low profile in recent weeks, but X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has made a surprise appearance at a London coffee shop.

The 26-year-old, dressed casually in a grey sweatshirt, black trousers and heels, thrilled customers at the Starbucks in South Kensington by posing for pictures and stopping to chat with them this weekend.

None was more pleased than builder Claudio Case who was spotted talking to the singer for several minutes during her brief visit to the shop.

‘She was really nice,’ he said. ‘I’ve always been a big fan of hers from X Factor and Girls Aloud and I couldn’t believe it when I saw her.

‘Even though she’s this huge star she was so down to earth and seemed really interested in talking to me about how my day was going.

‘She was very charming and so beautiful in real life – just how she looks on television.’

The singer has reportedly been holed up at the £300 a night Baglioni hotel opposite Hyde Park this week while conducting a string of interviews to promote her album 3 Words across Europe.

Her coffee shop stop came as she was voted ideal teacher by school children in a recent poll.

The Girls Aloud star, who left school without taking GCSEs, was the top choice, with former Doctor Who actor David Tennant in second place.
